In December 2017, Yankees fans all over the country went crazy when they found out that their general manager Brian Cashman made a trade with the Miami Marlins to bring power slugger Giancarlo Stanton to the Bronx. It may be just ten games into the 2018 season, but Stanton has already heard a number of boos after severely struggling in recent games.

Stanton started off his Yankees career great on Opening Day in Toronto on March 29th when he went deep for a home run, but since then, it has been a rocky road for the 28-year-old. Sunday’s game against Baltimore was the second time in this short season that Stanton had an 0-5 day with five strikeouts, and sadly, the fans did boo him again. Stanton is also the first major leaguer in the live ball era to have two games with zero hits and five strikeouts in the same season.

The Yankees had a tough weekend, dropping three out of four to the Baltimore Orioles and Stanton’s bad days at the plate didn’t help either. The team is also dealing with a slew of injuries already with CC Sabathia on the DL with a hip issue and young rookie Brandon Drury dealing with severe migraines as well as an already struggling bullpen.

For Stanton, however, he is taking the most heat for his struggles considering he is earning a massive $25 million this season. Following Sunday’s game, he told reporters he planned on working on his swing with the team having an off day on Monday. With the red-hot Boston Red Sox next up for the Yankees to face, Giancarlo Stanton better turn things around and quick.
