With all of the quarterback controversy happening with the Houston Texans, the return of RB Arian Foster has been overshadowed to say the least. With Alfred Blue as his replacement, Blue hasn’t had much of breakout start but was able to get a touchdown when the Texans faced the Buccaneers. With Foster back, it looked like the Texans would be able to keep their head above water and not be destroyed like they have for week 1 and 2.

However, Foster’s return was less than impressive. During their game against the Falcons, Foster was given the ball during the second quarter which was only his fourth carry of the game, possibly one of the reasons they got routed, but Foster ended up fumbling the ball. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the pass Foster fumbled was returned for a touchdown by the Falcons and gave the Falcons a 21-0 lead against the Texans.

In his first game since 2014, Foster was limited, but attempted eight carries with a total of 10 yards which could be expected for someone coming back from injury. The shuffling of QBs Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer probably wasn’t doing Foster any favors either. Foster was also an eligible receiver who was targeted three times for 25 yards which is a lot better than any of his rushing attempts. Foster was even overtaken by both of his replacements, Alfred Blue and Chris Polk especially Polk who was able to get the Texans a touchdown.

The Texans face the Indianapolis Colts next week for Thursday Night Football and that could really be Foster’s chance to break out and maybe get the Texans another win.
