It was the greatest night of Yankees outfielder Dustin Fowler’s young life until he crashed into a right field wall in Chicago. Â Fowler was making his big league debut and while running down a foul ball, he suffered a brutal injury to his right leg. Â Initially, he tried to walk around a bit in hopes that the pain he was experiencing would go away. Â Unfortunately, he had to be carted off the field and was taken to a local hospital.

Doctors determined that he had an open rupture in his right knee and it would require immediate surgery. Â Sadly, this will likely be the last time he takes the field this season. Â Fowler was promoted earlier today from the Yankees’ Triple-A team. Â The game was delayed over two hours due to rain which could be responsible for any bad field conditions. Â We are all thinking of Fowler tonight and hope that he can fully recover and get his first major league at-bat next season!
