With just days before the start of the NFL season, the Cleveland Browns have no time for distractions. That’s why the team quickly suspended their offensive line coach, Andy Moeller, indefinitely after allegations of serious misconduct arose.

According to ESPN, the suspension comes after Moeller allegedly assaulted his former fiance visiting from Maryland over the weekend. TMZ recently obtained the 9-1-1 call made by the alleged victim around 9 p.m. Saturday. In it, she claims Moeller strangled and beat her, and it was not the first time this kind of violence has occurred.

Berea, Ohio police filed an assault report on Moeller after responding to the 911 call. However, Moeller wasn’t arrested; instead the incident is under investigation.

The Browns released a statement Monday morning regarding Moeller’s suspension:

“Over the weekend, Andy was involved in an incident, involving allegations that we take very seriously. We have followed our internal protocol, determining that right now it is best for the team and for Andy to take time away from the organization to focus on his personal matters. We are going to respect the process of investigation on this personal matter and will have no further comment at this time.”

Browns head coach Mike Pettine said that assistant coach George DeLeone will take over the offensive line.

Moeller was going into his second season with the Browns after six seasons in Baltimore with the Ravens. While in Baltimore, he was suspended two games by the NFL and fined $47,000 after DUI charges in 2011.

This situation certainly is not ideal for the Browns. The team’s general manager Ray Farmer is already set to start the season serving a four-game suspension without pay for violating the NFL’s electronic device policy.

The Browns start their season on the road against the New York Jets.
