The Denver Broncos announced a short time ago that they had come to terms with wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders.  However, Sanders and his agent Steve Weinberg allegedly made a verbal commitment to the Kansas City Chiefs.  After committing, Weinberg allegedly talked to several other teams including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Denver Broncos, but never disclosed that his client had already verbally agreed to a deal with the Chiefs. While this does happen more often than we know, the Chiefs can actually file a grievance if they want.

Under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, agents and teams have an obligation to negotiate in “good faith”.  The Chiefs can say Weinberg did not act in good faith when he verbally committed his client to the team even thought they had no intention of signing with Kansas City.  One team executive said Weinberg “broke every rule in negotiations” and that this “was one of the worst situations in modern football negotiations”.

It seems unlikely that they would file because it would open the door and expose a lot of negotiations that take place in “bad faith”.  It also seems unlikely because both sides acknowledge that nothing was signed.  It is just a sh*t outta luck situation for Kansas City.  Denver and Sanders agreed on a three year deal worth $15 million.
