Cleveland, this one is for you! After an epic game seven, the Cleveland Cavaliers are officially NBA Champions; ending the city’s 52 year championship drought.  After being down 3-1 in the series, the Cavs were able to fight back and defeat the Warriors in three straight games, not something that happened often this season.  The Warriors had the best record in the regular season and were nearly impossible to beat at home, but LeBron James and company proved to be the better team in the end.

The kid from Akron, Ohio who has accomplished so much in his career, finally fulfilled his ultimate goal.  After being on the brink of elimination, it was clear the Cavs were not ready to step aside and let the Warriors become back-to-back champions.  It wasn’t easy as the Warriors matched every shot the Cavaliers hit, however a triple double from the King ultimately push Cleveland to a series win.  The previous six games had all been blowouts, but game seven was special. It seemed whenever the ball was in play, something special happened. Whether it was the Warriors’ Draymond Green who made six three’s and finished with 32 points or Kyrie Irving who played 43 minutes, contributing 26 points and six rebounds.  None of that can compare with James final stat line which included 27 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, three emphatic blocks, and two steals.

There is no longer a doubt that LeBron James is currently the best player in the league.  Reigning MVP Steph Curry had a phenomenal season and that can never be taken away from him, but when it came time to putting their team on their back, no one did that during the playoffs like James.  It was not just his ability to score, but his leadership on the court, giving up baskets to other players with better looks and telling his team one more stop at the end of the series.   Enjoy this one Cleveland, you deserve it!
