One of Mexico’s biggest names in soccer has now made a big move to sunny Los Angeles. Megastar Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez arrived at LAX on Wednesday and was welcomed by a sea of fans. Speculation about the 31-year-old joining the LA Galaxy has been in the soccer atmosphere since Swedish sensation Zlatan Ibrahimović gave notice of his departure from the team last November.

The 38-year-old was in Los Angeles for a good time, not a long time. Leaving the Galaxy after just one short year of being a part of the team. The striker announced in December he would rejoin and start his 2020 career with AC Milan.

Hernandez, the Guadalajara native began his training with his new team for the first time Thursday morning. Taking a big leap from Manchester United back to North America after almost ten years in Europe. Starting his career in 2006 with C.D Guadalajara he made a big name for himself and became one of Mexico’s most well-known players.

Hernandez is excited to start his new journey sitting down with MLS saying, “I’m in the best team of the league. I’m in one of the greatest cities in the world, my family, my friends, are very close. I have that culture about my country as well.”

Galaxy fans are having a bittersweet moment, losing Ibrahimović, but gaining such a skillful player to the team. Hernandez signed to three years with an option of a fourth year. His annual base salary will stand at a comfortable $6 million.

Kicking off his MLS debut for the LA Galaxy, you can catch “Chicharito” on February 29th.
