Talk about getting up close and personal.  During the end of the Daytona Nationwide Race a serious crash caused racer Kyle Larson’s car to go airborne right into the safety fence.  The fence is put in place so spectators are not injured, but unfortunately it could not stop Larson’s car.   One fan is said to have life threatening head injuries, while a fourteen year old child is said to be in critical condition, but should pull through.   The rest of the fans have been transported to a local hospital where they should be treated and released.   The car eventually caught fire, but Larson somehow was able to walk away from whatever was left of his car.  “I was getting pushed from behind,” Larson said. “Before I could react, it was too late. Flames came in the cockpit, but I was able to get out of the car quick.”  For the record, Tony Stewart did win the race, but that was the last thing anyone cared about.

Driver Michael Annett also went to the hospital after his car slammed head first into the safety wall.  He is being held over night to check for concussion symptoms.  This is not the first time fans have been hurt at a Nascar event.  Very scary situation and hoping all those hurt have a speedy recovery!
