While games of all different sports can often be rather redundant, the NHL has found ways to constantly keep things exciting, one of them is through the Coors Light NHL Stadium Series. In 2016, the Series will be made up of two games: theĀ Minnesota WildĀ vs. theĀ Chicago BlackhawksĀ at TCF Bank Stadium on February 21, andĀ theĀ Colorado AvalancheĀ vs. theĀ Detroit Red WingsĀ on February 27 at the Coors Light Stadium.

As part of the series, two teams will be comprised of notable alumni from the Avalanche and Red Wings will play a special game at Coors Field on February 26, the night before the main event. The alumni game will feature the most influential Avalanche and Red Wings players who competed for those organizations from 1996-2002, as an homage to when the teams faced each other in the Stanley Cup Playoffs five times, and combined to win five Stanley Cup championships.
