It was sad enough to watch Peyton Manning stand on the sidelines as the Indianapolis Colts played as pathetic as any team in recent history. Nobody knew just how incredibly valuable this future hall of famer was until he was unable to play. That is what made it so sad as the Colts decided the Peyton Manning era was over and released him into free agency. A fourteen year relationship had ended and it was truly a sad day for this legend.
Well, once the tears dried up, it was time for Manning to find a job. John Elway and the Denver Broncos offered him a three year contract. Even though he is Peyton, it was still a risk as he had not played in over a year. So, how did it work out for both teams? The Broncos are having an unbelievable season and Manning has returned to his MVP form. And the Colts? Well, they got the first pick in the draft and chose quarterback Andrew Luck. Luck has led the team to an 8-4 season and are poised to make the playoffs as well. It seems like it worked out well for both sides, but no one can forget when number 18 said goodbye to Indianapolis.
