Sometimes in sports there comes along a very special player that captures the nation’s attention. In the past, it was Michael Jordan, Ken Griffey Jr., and Derek Jeter. In 2013, it was Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig. He made his official debut on June 3, 2013 after being called up from the minor leagues. Los Angeles was really struggling and just looking for any type of spark. Not only did they get a spark, they may have found one of the most complete players in the minor leagues.
In his first game, Puig went 2 for 4, but it was his defense that also caught people’s attention. He recorded an outfield assist to complete a double play. on the last play of the game. In his second game as professional, he hit two home runs and drive in five runs. In his fourth game, he hit his first career grand slam. Some might say it was beginner’s luck and it would wear off.
