In the NFL, four out of the 32 teams have yet to win a game. A 0-3 start obviously isn’t ideal but it isn’t a death sentence for a season either. Actually, there have been teams who were 0-3 and went to the playoffs; the 1992 Chargers and the 1998 Bills are two examples.  I’m not saying these teams will get that far but maybe get back on track for the remainder of the season.

The first team is the Cleveland Browns. Okay, maybe not a great start. Even with the initial excitement of Hue Jackson, the Browns have continued to underperform. While I didn’t think the addition of Robert Griffin III would be a great addition, others had hope and it was diminished quickly. The team has some great pieces, but they don’t know how to utilize their weapons and work together as a team. You can’t really blame them for it because there’s never been any consistency. The team can’t keep players with the franchise for long.   Coaches and players who end up there seem eternally miserable so why would the team try to actually compete? The Browns are also in a pretty stacked division with the Steelers who got beat by the Eagles but are always Super Bowl favorites. The Ravens are undefeated and the Bengals are missing some weapons who will come back and hold them together more than anyone on the Browns. There is no way the Browns will be able to make a comeback.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are another one of those teams with a lot of weapons but they just can’t put it all together. Bortles is a pretty mediocre quarterback but he can get the job done for the most part and the team has Allen Hurns, Allen Robinson, even Julius Thomas. Their running game is pretty solid too with TJ Yeldon and Chris Ivory but the team just can’t seem to get it together on offense. Their defense is actually pretty solid with all of their free agency pickups and basically two rookies in Dante Fowler Jr. and Jalen Ramsey. The Jacksonville Jaguars are actually a team I could see making a comeback. I’m by no means saying they’re going to make a huge comeback but I think they can pull themselves out of the hole they’re in now. Their division isn’t the best either with the Titans, Colts, and Texans who all need to make vast improvements but Jacksonville could climb back in it.

In the NFC, the Chicago Bears have yet to get their first win. The Bears aren’t usually a contender, but this short season already has injury upon injury piling up for the team. They’ve lost a majority of their defense to injuries, forcing them to play rookies. Rookies are always tricky because you never know what they’re going to do. Their defense wasn’t great against Dallas especially the pass rush. They hardly got pressure on Prescott and allowed him to make throws deep down the field and let Elliott literally run all over them. They couldn’t even walk away with an interception off the rookie. On offense, Culter is out with a thumb injury while his replacement Brian Hoyer is being as mediocre as he always was. Star RB Jeremy Langford is out with an injury, forcing them to play Jordan Howard while Alshon Jeffery has been relatively silent with Kevin White and Zach Miller getting lots of looks. Even with all of that, turnovers have reared their ugly head with Hoyer and the Bears are stuck behind the Vikings, Packers, and Lions so a comeback is all but impossible.

The last team yet to get a win is the New Orleans Saints. This one is easily the hardest to swallow because Drew Bress is a great quarterback. Even at age 37, he’s still playing great football, completing his passes and continuing to build on his campaign for the Hall-Of-Fame. Honestly, I can’t think of a good reason why the Saints are losing besides their defense. Offensively, the team is doing great. They picked up John Kuhn, have a handful of good receivers and Mark Ingram so there’s no reason why they should be struggling. On defense, the team doesn’t produce. They don’t take advantage of turnovers, the few that they do get, and are terrible at rushing the QB and stopping the run as Falcons’ Freeman ran all over them last game. The Saints probably should have tried to find some good defensive players in free agency and then they might not be in the predicament they are now. The NFC South is an interesting division because there’s no clear winner there. The Falcons are 2-1 while the Panthers and Bucs are 1-2 so the NFC South is up for grabs or whoever it falls to, honestly. A comeback for the Saints is a possibility but not without a huge improvement.
