By now, everyone knows about the infamous Metta World Peace elbow thrown at James Harden. It appeared to be unintentional as I do not think any player would purposely try to knock a player out, however, Bruce Bowen noted an excellent point today on Sportscenter. Normally, if a player unintentionally knocks into another player and that player drops to the grown the normal reaction is to go back and make sure that player on the ground is alright. Metta World Peace instead, jogged down the court as if nothing had happened and was ready for the next play. That is why, I think at least, the league suspended World Peace for seven games today. This means he will miss the last regular game of the season along with the first six games of the postseason. Ouch. However, the Lakers are not the only team down a player. James Harden, the recipient of the elbow, has still not been cleared to play. The elbow to the head left Harden with a concussion. “He seems fine to me,” NBA scoring leader Kevin Durant said. “I’m happy that everything is OK with him, nothing too serious, I guess. We’re just taking it a day at a time. We care more about James’ health than him being on the court playing basketball for us.” I have to agree with Durant. Harden’s health is definitely the most important, but it sure would be helpful to have him in the playoffs. World Peace really needs to learn from his mistakes. This is definitely not his first time in trouble. I understand that he plays with his emotions, but that is what seems to get him in trouble.
