Most coaches and fans expect injuries to happen on the field. Unfortunately for recently signed Minnesota defensive tackle Linval Joseph he suffered an injury long after his time on the field.  After last night’s preseason game, Joseph was struck by a stray bullet at a nightclub.  The defensive tackle was struck in the lower leg and luckily he was not seriously hurt.

The shooting took place at  400 SoundBar in downtown Minneapolis.  He has already been released by a local hospital after being treated for the wound.  He is expected to be back with the team this week, however, it is unclear when he will resume playing time on the field.

The Vikings are aware of the situation and are thankful he was not seriously injured.  The team released a statement saying, “The entire Vikings organization is extremely thankful that Linval was not seriously hurt, and our thoughts are with all of the victims of this shooting. The team will defer any further comment to the Minneapolis Police Department during its ongoing investigation.”  Joseph signed a five-year deal worth $31.25 million this past offseason.
