On ESPN networks eleven players will be making their college choice picks.  There was supposed to be twelve, but because of being cited for marijuana possession during his visit to Ohio State a few weeks ago, receiver James Robinson will not make his pick on national signing day. Linebacker Levi Jones, the 65th-ranked player in the ESPN 300, kicked off national signing day by committing to USC Trojans.

Jones was torn between a few colleges, however, the USC Trojans made rank over Florida State, Florida, and UCLA. What made up the 6-foot-4, 215-pound linebacker’s mind was even though he visited all the colleges, once he visited USC on January 20th; he was persuaded to sign with the Trojans.

Jones put his own style on the traditional “pick-a-hat” ceremony as he revealed his decisions to the media and fans. Once he took off his jacket he initially had a long-sleeve Florida Gators T-shirt. Many started to applaud, but then he pulled off the Florida shirt to reveal a Florida State Seminoles shirt underneath.  Finally, when he removed the Florida State shirt he revealed one more shirt and that was the USC Trojans one; his actual chosen college.

After the revealing of the final shirt, Jones placed the USC hat on and said, “Fight On.”

With the signing of Jones, USC now has nine ESPN 300 signees in its 2017 recruiting class.
