After his big win at UFC 205, Conor McGregor became the only fighter in UFC history to hold two titles.  After knocking out Eddie Alvarez, McGregor became both the UFC lightweight and featherweight champion.   This is not surprising as UFC president Dana White said that it was inevitable that he would have to give up one title.  The timing, however, comes after light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier suffered an injury.

Cormier was supposed to fight Anthony Johnson at UFC 206 on December 10th.  With the injury, UFC was left scrambling for a way to replace their main even in such a short amount of time.  The new main event will feature Max Holloway vs. Anthony Pettis and the winner of that match will face the new featherweight champion Jose Aldo in the future.  Aldo knocked out McGregor almost a year ago in 13 seconds.
