After a short attempt at a career in baseball, former NBA great Tracy McGrady has decided to walk away.  McGrady was pitching for the Sugar Land Skeeters, a minor league team not affiliated with any of the thirty MLB teams.  McGrady was definitely not the next Cy Young posting a 4.75 ERA for the team, but nobody expected him to be, including himself.

McGrady got his first strike out during the Atlantic League’s All-Star Game which immediately prompted him to walk off the mound and announce his retirement.  “That is definitely going in the trophy case,” he said from the dugout following his outing. “I told some of the guys that I am going to get a strikeout before I stop playing. I got it in the second inning. Thank you Jesus.”  It was McGrady’s only strikeout for the Skeeters.  Pretty cool to see McGrady still get excited over his athletic accomplishments! Who wouldn’t want to walk off the mound with the ball in their hand after their first strikeout?
