The New England Patriots are Super Bowl 51 champions after defeating the Atlanta Falcons, 34-28.  The game ended with a huge bang, being the only Super Bowl game in history to ever go to overtime.  It only took one drive in overtime for Brady to win his fifth ring and fourth Super Bowl MVP title.  Brady was able to lead his team all the way back from a 25 point deficit making him the greatest quarterback of all time.

This is a bold statement considering how many amazing quarterbacks have played in the league.  After securing his fifth ring last night, however, it is a true one.  For the first three quarters, the Patriots offense could not get anything going, only scoring nine points.  It was an ugly night for the Patriots offensive line who gave up five sacks and looked overmatched. Finding themselves in a near impossible situation, Brady put the team on his back and his team scored 19 unanswered point in the fourth quarter.  He even ran for 15 yards when no other play was available.  How often do you see a 39-year-old quarterback tuck the ball and take off?

Some may try to undermine New England’s win by saying it was Atlanta who gave away the game when they tried to get cute in the fourth quarter.  Instead of running the ball and settling on a field goal to pretty much end any prayer the Patriots had of getting back in the game, they decided to run a pass play and the worst possible thing happened.  Ryan had the ball knocked out of his hands by an unblocked Dont’a Hightower and the Patriots recovered the ball on the ground.  The huge play fired up the team as they marched down the field three times to send the game to overtime.  Yes that is probably the play that the game, however, the team was still down 16 points with nine minutes remaining.  It was Brady who hit Danny Amendola in the end zone to make it a one score game following the turnover.  After the fumble, Brady went 15 for 19 and 170 yards.

Winning ring number five and becoming the quarterback with the most Super Bowl wins in NFL history was just a couple of Brady’s accomplishments last night.  Brady now holds Super Bowl records for almost every offensive category.  Here is a full list of every record Brady know owns.

How can anyone doubt what this man has accomplished in his career, specifically in the biggest game of the season?  Maybe, Eli Manning.
