Many times athletes make headlines for getting in trouble with the law.  This time, Oklahoma City’s Serge Ibaka is making headlines for giving back to those who need it.  The power forward had pledged to donate $500 for every blocked shot he has in the NBA playoffs. Right now, Ibaka avergaes 2.7 blocks per game, but I think it is fair to say we all hope he becomes a blocking machine in the playoffs!

The money will be donated to UNICEF and help children living in Congo.  Ibaka grew up in Congo before moving to Spain as a teenager.  The money will go to help children receive medicine and other products such as soap and toothbrushes.  Things that we all have taken for granted.  So if you do not have a team to root for in the playoffs, root for Ibaka to block as many shots as possible!
