Russell Westbrook is having an incredible season on the court.  He is keeping the Thunder in the playoff picture without reigning MVP Kevin Durant being healthy all season.  His actions off the court have been even more impressive.  Kerstin Gonzalez is a nineteen year old single mother of two young boys who does not have a working car at the moment. She has been receiving help to care for her two boys, Matthew and Adam, from Sunbeam Family Services.

She was there yesterday for what she thought was a meeting, but instead ran into Thunder superstar Russell Westbrook who said he had a surprise for her.  He reached into his pocket and pulled out the keys to the Kia SUV he won during the All-Star game after being named MVP.  Gonzalez immediately burst into tears of joy.

What made Westbrook chose Gonzalez as the recipient of the SUV? “When you see somebody working hard towards a goal and finding ways every day to keep everything afloat for her two boys and her family, you can’t do anything but help them out,” he said.  Gonzalez is currently working on graduating from high school and applying to college to study forensic science.  She has nothing but nice things to say about the Thunder point guard, “He was a gentleman. “He was amazing, he was sweet and so attentive to what I had to say. He’s a really awesome person,” she said.
