Derrick Rose has finally succumbed to injuries. With less than two minutes to play, Rose suffered a terrible injury in which he tore his ACL. In a playoff game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Rose leaped off his left foot and just came down all wrong. Watching the injury occur is awful. “It’s like the saddest win,” Bulls shooting guard Kyle Korver said. “Regardless, we’ve got to pick ourselves up. We’ve played a lot of games this year without him. So maybe it was just getting us ready for this.” You can just see the pain and agony all over his face. Rose was escorted off the court by coaches. This is certainly not the first injury Rose has suffered this season. He only played in 39 games this season after multiple injuries to multiple areas of his body. It is quite depressing that one of the greatest young talents will not be able to lead his team through the playoffs. On a brighter note for Chicago fans, they did win the game… I guess that is not much consolation prize.
To make matters worse, Rose was not the only player to suffer a torn ACL. Rising star, Iman Shumpert from the New York Knicks also ended his season tonight as the Knicks were blown out by the Miami Heat. He dribbled up the court went left and just dropped allowing Mario Chalmers to get the steal while he laid there in excruciating pain. Poor guys. What an awful way to end the season.
