With a dad as talented as Stephen Curry and a mother as gorgeous as Ayesha Curry, it isn’t hard to imagine why Riley Curry is how she is. Riley has been making appearances throughout Stephen and Ayesha’s Instagrams and twitters for the past two years. However this May, Riley really had her breakout into the basketball world and pop culture.

While other players have brought their children to press conferences in the past, Riley really outshone them all. In her first press conference with her dad, she made an amazing first impression. Before Stephen could even be asked a question, she told him that she wanted to sit on his lap and thus started the never-ending parade of cuteness that is Riley Curry. Some of the highlights from her first press conference including her telling her dad to be quiet and waving at everyone in the crowd which can be seen here.

Fortunately for fans who wanted to see more of Riley, Steph decided to bring her to another conference. In her second appearance, she knew that she was the center of the attention which only caused her to be even more adorable. Some highlights included her yawning as soon as the questions started, talking into the microphone while her dad was answering, handing her gum to the media and ripping her dad’s stat sheet in half which can be seen here.

After her two press conferences, the world started to really look at Riley. Unfortunately, not all of the feedback was positive. Most of the negative feedback was from the sports media, saying that Riley was “a distraction” and that her presence interfered with the post-game coverage which sparked a lot of discussion through the sports world. Some agreed that her presence was a distraction, but one thing that the reporters did not mention is that Riley’s presence did not distract Steph. Her presence was a distraction to the media who were quick to film and take pictures of her instead of being focused on what Stephen was doing and talking about.

Curry didn’t seem to care about what the media labeled Riley and it showed. When the Warriors won the NBA Finals, she and her mom accompanied Steph for the Championship Parade. Riley stole the show with her cuteness after her little bout with stage fright and her playing around with all of the fallen confetti. While Riley’s presence has sparked a lot of debate in the sports world, she brings up an excellent point that is not readily discussed. Sports are meant to be for all ages, not just for a select group and her presence shouldn’t take away anything from the actual sport, but instead add to it.

You can find more of Riley on her mom’s YouTube channel, Little Light of Mine, and a simple google search of her name will give you the cuteness overload that you’re sure to appreciate.
