The St. Louis Blues will have center Paul Stastny back in the lineup when they face the Buffalo Sabres on Monday night. The confirmation came after Stastny took part in the Blues optional skate on Monday morning after missing the past 16 games because of a broken right foot sustained on Oct. 16.

With Stastny back in the lineup, Scott Gomez will be scratched. Defenseman Robert Bortuzzo will re-enter the lineup in place of Joel Edmundson and goaltender Jake Allen will start.

Stastny has one goal and four assists in five games this season and will return to his previous spot between Alexander Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko.

The center’s return puts the Blues in a more organized position. Though it may take some time for Stastny to catch up to speed, there is no doubt that he’ll be able to do it. Before the injury, he was as good on the power play as he was on killing penalties.
