To the surprise of absolutely no one, Aaron Rodgers has been picked as this year’s NFL MVP. He is the first Green Bay Packer to win the title since former quarterback Brett Farve. Out of a possible 50 votes, Rodgers accumulated 48 with the other two going to New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

He was handed the award by four-time MVP Peyton Manning. “It means a lot to be recognized as a consistent player and contributing on my team,” Rodgers said. “I think it’s an award that relies on a player having the support of his teammates, obviously, guys blocking, guys running, guys catching, guys making plays. But I’m very honored to receive the award.”

Some other notable awards went to:
Jim Harbough (San Francisco 49ers)- Coach of the Year
Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions)- Comeback Player of the Year
Drew Brees- Offensive Player of the Year
Cam Newton (Carolina Panthers)- Rookie of the Year
Von Miller (Denver Broncos)- Defensive Rookie of the Year
Terrell Suggs (Baltimore Ravens) – Defensive Player of the Year
