David Ortiz, the power DH for the Boston Red Sox, has come to terms with the team for a one year deal. The two sides met in the middle and agreed upon $12.65 million for the upcoming season. Ortiz was asking for $16.5 million. Ortiz become a free agent at the end of last season, but chose to pass up offers from other teams. Instead, he accepted Boston’s offer for arbitration on December 7th. The Red Sox have not gone into arbitration with any player in 10 years. Ortiz is coming off one of the best seasons of his career in which he batted .309 with 29 homers and 96 RBIs. Oh well good for him, but I cannot deny I was really interested in seeing Big Papi in pinstripes.
