With the Las Vegas Golden Knights’ expansion draft soon approaching, all thirty teams were asked to submit their lists of players they are protecting as well as who they place as available for the league’s newest team.  Anybody not on these lists, the Vegas Golden Knights can sign and start putting together their team.  The lists contained players that were expected to be protected as well as other names that many people did not see coming.

The lists from all thirty NHL clubs was released at 10:30AM on Sunday morning ahead of next week’s festivities. Here is a list of some of the most notable names of players that were protected:

Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie

Pittsburgh Penguins forwards Carl Hagelin and Nick Bonino

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Tyler Johnson

New York Rangers goaltender Antti Raanta and forward Michael Grabner

Nashville Predators forward Mike Fisher

The 2017 NHL expansion draft is set to take place Wednesday, June 21st. It was also announced earlier by commissioner Gary Bettman that the salary cap was increased another $2 million . It is going to be quite an interesting summer in the National Hockey League.
