79391041-415x250It has been an ugly, disappointing start for the New York Knicks.  They are currently on a seven game losing streak and are still without former Defensive Player of the Year Tyson Chandler as their center.  As frustrated as fans are, it seems players are just as tired of their pathetic performances.

An altercation was caught on camera during the Knicks game  yesterday against the New Orleans Pelicans between Carmelo Anthony and Iman Shumpert.  The two denied any bad blood, but it was clear Shumpert was angry about something.  Too make matters more suspicious, after the altercation, Shumpert did not come back into the game.  After the game, he just called the incident “defensive miscommunication”.   He has been rumored to be on the trading block all season, and with coach Mike Woodson’s decision to bench should indicate that the rumors might have some validity.  With rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. playing well, the Knicks might feel Hardaway can take his position and they can get some new players on their roster for Shumpert.

Another heated debated allegedly broke out between Kenyon Martin and Metta World Peace.  During practice before the game against New Orleans, the two had to be separated after things got too intense between the teammates.  The two appeared to squash whatever their differences were with World Peace tweeting, “Don’t believe those stories you here. I would play with 10 Kenyon Martins and of there year. And he has two finals appearances”.

All these outbursts are just a team who is tired of losing.  They had so much success last season and now they are experiencing what the other side is like. Everyday, this team has to deal with rumors of Carmelo Anthony leaving after this season, Mike Woodson getting fired, and Iman Shumpert getting traded.  Add that to the sloppy play on the court and lack of ball movement and team unity and you get the New York Knicks 2013-14 season.

  1. Great article, well written. The Knicks were highly overrated despite the previous season success. It was only a matter of time before their true talent is exploited.
