Today is the NBA’s annual draft and it certainly looks like an interesting one for the upcoming basketball year. The lottery to decide the first five picks has already been drawn with the first pick going to the Minnesota Timberwolves and then Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks and Orlando Magic will pick in order. The NBA draft is similar to the NFL draft in which the teams have 5 minutes to either make their selection or try to trade with another team and then the player comes up to get a jersey and hat. The remaining rounds, the teams are only allotted 2 minutes. All teams will be making a first-round pick except for the LA Clippers.

Some of the top prospects this year include Karl-Anthony Towns, Jahlil Okafor, D’Angelo Russell, Emmanuel Mudiay and Mario Hezonja. Most mock drafts have Towns being the #1 draft pick and at 6’11’, 250 pounds, it looks like Towns is going to be a great addition to the Timberwolves. As far as the next four picks, drafts have all been muddled in who they see the top 5 picks going to except for Towns. Another issue coming up during this year’s draft is the possibility of Demarcus Cousins being traded, because head coach George Karl wants to trade Cousins, but owner Vivek Ranadive does not approve of the move which is creating some turmoil. If Cousins is traded, the Lakers could get a need and then the Kings could have their second overall pick. However, everyone will have to wait to see how the saga unfolds for all 30 teams.

The 2015 NBA draft will air on June 25th, 2015 on ESPN at 7:00 pm EST.
