Marshawn Lynch has been getting attention in the past year for various different reasons, mostly due to his nickname Beastmode or that he eats Skittles during every game or maybe the fact that he basically refuses to talk to the media. Eventually when he does talk to the media, though, Lynch ends up breaking the internet with his one-liners, i.e. “I’m just here so I won’t get fined” during his Super Bowl press conference with the media.

Lynch’s reluctance to talk to the media is nothing new, though. Lynch had previous conflicts with the NFL over his refusal to talk to the media which resulted in him being named the most fined player in the NFL in 2014. Lynch was fined $100,000 dollars for not talking to the media in 2 seasons, fined $31,000 dollars for his infamous “crotch grab” at a game on Christmas Day and for doing it during the NFC Championship game.

However, more news about his fines are coming out as of recently. Lynch was apparently fined for not talking to the media after their NFC championship game which was a whopping $75,000.  If you’re tallying that, Lynch is now up to over $200,000 dollars in a matter of one season.

If Lynch agrees to cooperate and talk to the media this season, his 75k fine could be dropped completely. If Lynch doesn’t agree, then he will have to pay the fine which is a little ridiculous if you think about it. Obviously, there are two sides to every story which is why it’s so hard to judge who is right or wrong or if there could even be a positive win for either side.

Lynch is clearly uncomfortable talking to the media and has vocalized that multiple times, but still he has to talk to the media or he gets fined. The NFL’s perspective is a little different in that Lynch has to talk to the media, because it is his obligation as a player and the fact that the NFL’s media coverage is what feeds football season and their fans. It’s hard to really pick a side and agree with everything that they’re doing, without seeing things from the other side’s perspective too. When in doubt, just stick with one of Beastmode’s statements!

I’m only writing this so I don’t get fined!
