This story is near and dear to my heart. Gary Carter, a hall of fame baseball player, has been battling cancer for over a year now. He was diagnosed with four brain tumors after experiencing headaches and forgetfulness. Recently, it appeared that chemotherapy along with drug therapy were keeping the tumors in check. However, this is no longer the case. The doctors have found new spots on his brain. His daughter, Kimmy Bloemers, explains, “[The doctor] told my mom that there are now several new spots/tumors on my dad’s brain. I write these words with tears because I am so sad for my dad. Dr. Jimmy Harris will be coming to my parent’s house this evening to talk to the family about the next step. I will continue to keep you all updated. Love to everyone and thank you for the prayers.” Last week, Carter was spotted at his golf tournament for charity, but did not participate. After a very bad fall on Christmas, Carter has a torn rotator cuff. I only hope for the best for Gary and his family. I know he has the determination to fight this evil monster and once he does he needs to make a guest appearance at CitiField. I will keep Gary in my prayers.
