Today was a test as to whether the red-hot Rams, riding a 4-0 run, could rise above a team with a winning record. The game was up for grabs until the fourth quarter when the Vikings put up 17 points en route to a 24-7 victory over the NFL’s highest scoring offense.

In the land of 10 thousand lakes, Case Keenum kept his men afloat by completing 27 of 38 passes for 280 yards, including one touchdown and no turnovers against the ball club that benched him in lieu of last season’s No. 1 draft pick, Jared Goff.

Minnesota mauled Sean McVay’s much-improved product 171-45 in rushing yards, outmatching Los Angeles’ offense in the air 280-225. Viking place kicker Kai Forbath was bailed out by his buddies after missing field goals of 48 and 39 yards with the score tied at seven.  Safety Anthony Harris, filling in for the injured Andrew Sendejo, singlehandedly turned the beat around for the Vikings by stripping the ball from Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp at the 1-yard line recovering the fumble with four and change remaining in the first half.

Latavius Murray defied Wade Phillip’s defense with 95 yards on the ground and two touchdowns while wide receiver Adam Thielen hauled in a game high 123, handing Keenum the longest touchdown pass of his career on a simple curl route good for 65 yards, spinning past Rams cornerback Dominique Hatfield for a go-ahead TD.

Goff’s day in defeat yielded 225 yards on 22 of 37 passes, no turnovers, while taking a pair of sacks. Todd Gurley gained 37 yards on 15 carries, scoring the only points for LA’s lackluster performance.

Next week the Rams will face another difficult exam in their duel against the NFC SOuth leading New Orleans Saints, who overcame a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter on Sunday to force an OT game winning field goal over the Washington Redskins.
