It was the greatest night of Yankees outfielder Dustin Fowler’s young life until he crashed into a right field wall in Chicago.  Fowler was making his big league debut and while running down a foul ball, he suffered a brutal injury to his right leg.  Initially, he tried to walk around a bit in hopes that the pain he was experiencing would go away.  Unfortunately, he had to be carted off the field and was taken to a local hospital.

Doctors determined that he had an open rupture in his right knee and it would require immediate surgery.  Sadly, this will likely be the last time he takes the field this season.  Fowler was promoted earlier today from the Yankees’ Triple-A team.  The game was delayed over two hours due to rain which could be responsible for any bad field conditions.  We are all thinking of Fowler tonight and hope that he can fully recover and get his first major league at-bat next season!
