Devastating news for the Cowboys defense who really cannot afford anymore bad news.  Head coach Jason Garrett announced today linebacker DeVonte Holloman was advised to step away from football due to a neck injury.  Holloman was expected to take the place of middle linebacker Sean Lee who tore his ACL during OTAs.

Holloman suffered the injury during last Saturday’s preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.  He suffered a spinal contusion last season as well.

Holloman becomes the second player this season forced into retirement due to a neck injury.  New York Giants running back David Wilson announced his retirement earlier this month after doctors advised him to walk away from the game.  Wilson handled the news graciously and is now looking at competing in the 2016 Olympics.  He is looking to compete in the triple jump event.
