After a crazy weekend in college football where  two top-three teams and multiple top 25 teams lost, college football fans were anxious to see what the playoff rankings would look like come Tuesday night. The playoff committee released the rankings last night and most people are very content in the way it looks.

Last week, the playoff rankings read no. 1 Georgia, no. 2 Alabama, no. 3 Notre Dame, no. 4 Clemson and Oklahoma and TCU following 5 and 6, being the first two out.  However, after Georgia’s surprising loss to the Auburn Tigers (45-17) they took a deep dive from no. 1 to no. 7. This obviously made Alabama fans very happy, seeing as though they were back at no. 1 after a 31-24 winning battle over the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Surprising upset of the weekend came from the the Notre Dame – Miami game. Notre Dame was completely exposed after Miami won the game 41-8. This took Notre Dame down to no. 8 this week and brought Miami into the playoffs, sitting at No.3

Week 11’s, 5 and 6, Oklahoma and TCU battled it out, however Oklahoma came out on top 38-20, pushing TCU out of the rankings to no. 12 and making Oklahoma no. 4.

Now, new no.2 Clemson did win it’s game against FSU this weekend (31-14) however, many people feel the one loss Clemson should sit behind the unbeaten Hurricanes of Miami. Even CFB Playoff Selection Committee Chair Kirby Hocutt admitted, “There was tremendous debate between no. 2 Clemson and No. 3 Miami”. He explains the final decision by stating, “I think what gave Clemson the edge this week over a Miami team that has really impressed us the last two weeks was the Tiger’s win against Auburn.”

Hocutt goes on to say that, “Miami has not played a winning team on the road yet. And that’s something that has given Clemson a slight edge this week, their performance on the road.”

So after Auburn’s performance, beating the undefeated, then no.1 team in the country, Georgia, they sit at no. 6 along with no. 5 Wisconsin, who beat Iowa this past weekend.

Week 12 will be a little bit more relaxing, as most top 10 teams are playing an unranked opponent or taking a bye week.
