Talk about a grand arrival! Not even 24 hours after being traded from the San Diego Padres to the New York Yankees, third baseman Chase Headley managed to drive in the game winning run.   The Yanks hosted the Texas Rangers yesterday when the game went to extra innings.  The game’s first run came during the 13th inning, but by the fourteenth inning, the game was over.

Headley only arrived in New York a half hour before the game began.  Joe Girardi decided to use him in the eighth inning as a pinch-hitter for Zelous Wheeler.  He did not record a hit in his first three at-bats.  However,  Headley came to the plate in the fourteenth and hit a single to bring home the winning run.

When asked about the moment, Headley said, “You’ve got to want to be up in that spot. Had a chance earlier, wasn’t able to get it done. I was fortunate to come back around and have (another) opportunity.”  Headley was traded for IF Yangervis Solarte and minor-league pitcher Rafael De Paula.  Does not look like the Yankees miss their other permanent third baseman, what was his name again?
