The Columbus Blue Jackets signed defenseman Ryan Murray, who could have become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, to a two-year, $5.65 million contract on Thursday.

At 22-years-old, Murray has four goals and 17 points. He also averages 22:27 of ice time this season. He is one of three Blue Jackets (Boone Jenner and Gregory Campbell are the others) to have played in all of Columbus’ 55 games.

The Blue Jackets Selected Murray with the second pick of the 2012 NHL Draft. In 133 NHL games, he has nine goals and 41 points.
