Lost in the NBA playoffs and start of the MLB season are the NHL playoffs.  The hockey pros are chasing the Stanley Cup for another year and the Colorado Avalanche are wishing they had an extra week or two to get healthy.

Head coach Patrick Roy announced that the team will likely be without center Matt Duchene for the entire first round.  Duchene has been out since March after suffering an injury to his MCL  He was only expected to miss four weeks, but Colorado is not confident that he will be able to play against the Minnesota Wild regardless if this series goes all the way to seven games.  Duchene has yet to start skating on the ice.

To make matters worse, Avs center John Mitchell has been listed as day to day after suffering a concussion.  Roy did not seem confident in his return either.  The Avalanche lead the series 2-0
